# Photonic Assembly Applications

Canonical HTML: https://photonicassembly.com/applications/

The same underlying disciplines—alignment, attachment, packaging and verification—change character across each photonic architecture. The application does not merely receive a package. It helps define it.

## Application areas

- **AI and datacenter optical I/O:** high channel density, thermal proximity to electronics and short optical paths can place unusual demands on repeatable attachment and package architecture.
- **Co-packaged optics:** tight electrical reach and optical coupling must coexist within mechanically and thermally constrained package architectures.
- **Telecom and datacom:** connectorization, environmental reliability, channel consistency and manufacturing throughput can shape module design and qualification.
- **Quantum photonics:** depending on platform, low loss, stability, cryogenic compatibility and precise interfaces can become dominant assembly constraints.
- **LiDAR:** optical alignment, field of view, calibration and vibration stability can interact with compact module packaging.
- **Imaging:** detector placement, lens registration, stray-light control and thermal stability can influence system performance.
- **Precision sensing:** where small drift can resemble the measured signal, packaging, metrology and calibration may need to be designed together.
- **Medical and life science:** compact optical systems can add material-compatibility, contamination-control, calibration and packaging requirements that depend strongly on use environment.
- **Aerospace:** depending on mission, mass, shock, vibration, radiation exposure, temperature range and long service intervals can alter material and attachment choices.
- **Industrial optical systems:** ruggedization, maintainability and calibration retention can become central outside controlled laboratory environments.

These statements describe constraint patterns, not universal requirements for every platform or product.
